A Slow Time of the Year? Try some Cartooning
May through October things are kind of hectic and there’s not a lot of time to do anything but work and sleep. I am fortunate enough during those months to be busy with DJ work, photography and my full time job. I don’t draw as much as I would like.
November and December I have more time and a dear friend this year ask me to do any cartooning for her for Christmas. I was happy to do so. She ask for a photo of her and her significant other. I thought when she first ask she want me to do an interpretation of them as if they were bulls. Right, didn’t makes sense and after I showed her my first sketch, both done as bulls she pointed out that she just wanted horns. It was back to the drawing board, which for this was an ipad with the program Procreate, (I will talk more about that program in a minute). I re-did the drawing and showed her again. This were spot on this time except a color change in the beard of her man and maybe her hair was curly and she wanted it strait. Another change and the beard was correct but the color of her hair was off a little. There was back and forth a couple more times and then, if was done. I was happy to have had a lot of time to work on it and not have to hurry.
Truth be said, I would like to sit and draw all the time. With the Ipad and Procreate and a handful of other drawing programs it’s something I can do almost anywhere. So as for Procreate. It is my favorite app on my ipad. The cost for it is $9.99 and is well worth it. With it you have a ton of different brushes and you can do any style of drawing or painting. From a HB pencil to a oil paint brush. You can do a slick caricature that looks like it was done with a magic marker to an oil painting done by Bob Ross. I have several other drawing apps but I keep going back to Procreate.
So for another month or so I hope I have the spare time to draw more. If i happen to do any that might be worthy of showing, I will post them here. If you are interested in a drawing of some type, you can contact me here.
